WHEN "THANK YOU" DOESN'T SEEM ENOUGH!!
January 15th 2017, 5 days before we would leave on our annual trip to Ogooma. We went before the church to introduce the COMPASSION TEAM that would be heading out to Ogooma. We knew before we left that things were dire in the Nyero region (where our Touch Home is), and that malnutrition was running rampant. Knowing finances were tight we weren't quite sure where to begin. Things have also been tight in Canada where there has been many job losses as well. Not knowing what to say or do, we put our plea our before our church to pray for this desperate situation in Ogooma. And WOW!, people around Canada gave so generously that we were able to take with an extra $13,000.00 to run a nutrition day and feeding program to all those who were in desperate need. That day 750 families were able to receive a bag of food, and 19 were sent to hospital with severe malnutrition.
From here we needed to desperately pray for rain. Finally some rains appeared, but came with such force that washed many crops out. Then once again, the drought and crop failure was upon this region again. At the end of April 2017, we received a desperate plea to help fund a feeding program, in which the most dire feeding needs would be met. Once again, people came forward and offered to help. By May 1st, over $16,000.00 was raised and sent to Ogooma where many families will be helped till the next crop season. Many also gave so generously in sponsoring Bible purchase for over 200 that came to know Christ, from January to Easter Sunday. How precious it is to not only share daily food with them, but to also supply them with the daily food for their eternal life. Through all this amazing giving and sharing, I can't help but think of these verses:
Matthew 25: 34-40
"Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, my Father has blessed you! Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something drink. I was a stranger, and you took me into your home. I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' "Then the people who have God's approval will reply to him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you as a stranger and take you into our homes or see you in need of clothes and give you something to wear? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' "The king will answer them, I CAN GUARANTEE THIS TRUTH: WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF MY BROTHERS OR SISTERS, NO MATTER HOW UNIMPORTANT THEY SEEMED, YOU DID FOR ME."
To all these people who gave so generously, to help these families, THANK YOU DOES NOT SEEM ENOUGH. May God Bless you beyond measure and know the difference you are making in TOUCH MINISTRIES is huge.
